I am thankful for my dear friend Nora Fulton for introducing me to the poetic works of the musician, mathematician, and philosopher Catherine Christer Hennix over these last years, first through her review of the volumes in The Poetry Project Newsletter, and then in her dialogue with Hennix in the wonderful journal o bod. I was so pleased, then, to receive from Marcus Boon his essay “Vibration In Itself: Sound, Humanism, and the Anthropocene” when compiling Aural Poetics for his discussion of Hennix’s work and the politics of vibration.
To join in the chorus of remembrances and reflections on Catherine Christer Hennix following the news of her passing earlier this week in Istanbul, I thought I might make available Marcus’s essay from Aural Poetics available to read here.
Marcus Boon’s essay “Vibration In Itself: Sound, Humanism, and the Anthropocene” was originally published in OEI #98-99: Aural Poetics (2023), edited by Michael Nardone.
Thank you for posting this wonderful article here, and for the post about Hennix, who I'm intrigued to discover more about!
